Leader to watch: Marla Weston

Marla Weston

ANA CEO Marla J. Weston, PhD, RN, is the subject of Nurse Leader’s most recent cover story. Weston was asked about nursing’s role in the future of health care. “Nurses have amazing opportunities right now to dramatically influence their practice and the health care system,” she noted. Weston also shared her insights on the difference between leadership and management. “Leadership is thinking about inspiring others to create and work toward an imagined possible future, while management is the operational, day-to-day execution. I believe that management has been undervalued. Without great management, nothing gets executed,” Weston said.
